Vice-Admiral Geoffrey Blake has been appointed to tiie command of the battle cruiser squadron from August, when it will join the Mediterranean command in accordance with the arrangements consequent upon the withdrawal of the first battle squadron for repairs. Admiral Blake will then be second in command in the Mediterranean.

Vice-Admiral Geoffrey Blake entered the Navy in 1897, and was appointed Commander in 1914, Captain in 1918, Rear-Admiral in 1931. He served throughout tiie war and was gunnery Commander on H.M.S. Iron Duke 191417. He participated in the Battle of Jutland and has held many important naval positions. He is 54 years of age-
