The Vienna correspondent of the Daily Telegraph states that 2000 members of the Fascist Heimwehr cheered and Hung up their hands in tiie Fascist salute to-day as Prince Starhemberg left the capital for Rome. He is to attend a football match between teams representing Austria and Italy on Sunday, as leader of the Austrian Sports Organisation. Prince Starhemberg was in a defiant mood. He declared: “The fight for Fascism in Austria is not over. It is only just beginning and will start in earnest when I return. Fascism will triumph.” The Minister of Finance, Dr. Draxler, says the Prince’s visit to Rome was arranged months ago and has no political significance. It is stated that the Chancellor, Dr. Sohuschnigg, intends to disarm the Heimwehr immediately. Another correspondent states that foreign pressure was partly responsible for the eclipse of Prince Starhemberg. Immediately his telegram of congratulation to Signor Mussolini was published the British, French and Czechoslovakian Ministers called on Dr. Schuschnigg and asked him whether Prince Starhemberg was expressing the Government’s views. Dr. Schuschnigg formally took over the leadership of the Fatherland Front, In the presence of delegates from semi-military organisations. He expressed appreciation of Prince Starhemberg’s services, but pointed

out that any form of dualist Government led to friction and delay. The working classes would be adequately represented in the Fatherland Front, which would not inquire about past political affiliations. He announced the disarmament of the Heimwehr, which Prince Starlieinberg recently declared he would permit only over his corpse, by announcing that there must be no armed formations apart from tiie volunteer militia. Tiie foreign policy would be .unchanged. Prince Starhemberg would be placed at the head of llie organisation for the protection of mothers, so that his name would be permanently associated with patriotic work. ROME, May 15.
