TE AWAMUTU BAND.

RIIPONSIIILITV FOR PROPERTY. (Times ‘Representative) . TE AWAMUTU, Tuesday. The opinion that the responsibility for all the band instruments and prop—erty was too great for one person was expressed in a letter received from the secretary oi‘ the Municipal Bond committee at a meeting or the To Awemutu Borough Council last evening. The letter asked that the. council rescind the motion which placed the mil responsibility on the conductor. Mr R. H. Closer It was suggested that the band finance committee should be responsible. Mr Rainey said that the band had grown greatly in recent years and he favoured the rescinding of the mo—tion. , Formal notice was given to rescind the earlier motion. A further letter from the band committee stated that an offer had been received from an Auckland firm to purchase the band‘s old instruments. As the instruments were of no use it was felt that the char was a fair one and the proceeds could be applied to the reduction of the present instrument account. Mr Rainey said the old instruments were in a very bad state and were absolutely of no use to the existing band. He thought the offer was very fair and he favoured its acceptance. It was decided that advantage be taken of the offer.
