BODY IN WELL

BAG OVER HEAD. MURDER IN AUSTRALIA. ROBBERY CONSIDERED THE MOTIVE United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyrlg-tiL SYDNEY, May 7. The body of a man identified as Charles Dawson, formerly a tram driver, was found yesterday hidden in a disused shallow well close lo Lake Illawarra on the south coast of NewSouth Wales. Dawson had been shot in one temple and a bag had been placed over his head and fastened around his neck with a rope. The police are convinced that the man was murdered. He had lived alone in a one-roomed building and received a pension, but it is known that he posed as a man of means. It is thought that robbery was the motive for the crime. The police discovered a trail of blood leading from the hut to the spot where the body was buried. The police to-day arrested Francis Henry Maudlin, aged 27, near Bulli, south coast, and charged* him with murdering Daw-son.
