••ANOTHER LANGUAGE” BEABON. PLEASANT SOCIAL GATHERING. “Another Language” was repeated vy the Hamilton Playbox at Hie Civic Theatre last night. An excellent performance was given, all the members of the cast acquitting themselves well and giving keen pleasure to the large audience. At the close (lowers and gifts were handed over the footlights, and the producer. Mr Leo Foster, thanked all who had contributed to the success of the production. lie said that the weeks spent in preparing and presenting the play had been very happy, owing to the manner in which everyone had worked and the co-operation he had received. Presentation to Producer. A very happy social gathering look place in the Centreway Tearooms, after the performance. Mr M. Thomas, president of Hie Playbox, took the opportunity of thanking all who had contributed to the success of the production, and specially mentioned the great work done by the producer. He said they were under a deep debt of gratitude to Mr Foster, and wished him to accept a slight memento of a very happy association. Mrs Thomas, wife of the president, amid hearty applause, handed to Mr Foster a handsome book of British plays, autographed by the company. Mr Foster, in returning thanks for the gift and the kindly sentiments, emphasised the need for team work in staging a play, and said that in this respect he had beer, very fortunate, for he had received the close co-op-eration. not only of the cast, but of all those unseen workers whose efforts were so Important in the general success. His difficulties had thus been greatly lightened, and he was deeply grateful. He specially mentioned the great assistance he had received from Mr A. E. Manning, whose experl- j encc and advice were much' appreci- I ated. The press, too, had been very | helpful. Mr W. Blakeway called for three l cheers for the president and his wife,! Mr and Mrs Thomas, which were j heartily given. Musical and elocutionary Items were contributed and community singing In- j dulged in, and a very happy gathering i closed with the singing of “ Auld Lang Syne.”
