THE LEAGUE'S POLICY.
(To the Editor.) Sin—The excuses of the New Zealand “'eifare League are innumerable when they are asked to face up to the actual facts of the case presented. It is regretted that they misquote twlce in their letter 01‘ May 2 a phrase 01‘ mine in order to Justify their position. i did not state “that i accused every—one who supported our present mone—tary system as accessories to war and crime." They have, purposely or otherwise, deleted the most. important part or my ~statement.
1 As to the truth of the Douglas :proposals, if the League refers to a recent issue of the Waikato Times they will read that a Last has been made, with satisfactory results. in the United States of America which has been broadcast throughout the American Press.
Further, as the League lmpresses :upon the public the fact that they are a very strong organisation in the Dominion. 11 is remarkable that they shrink from a public duty in defendllns thetr opinions tn the open. Surely they have u stalwart. supporter in lllamllton to uphold their views? I challenge them to prove: (1) That Ltn this present instance I have deviated from the subject; (2) that they have ever supported, or suggested, any re‘ form beneficial to 'the cqmmunlt)’; (3) that they are true to their tltle; and (4) that the acid test, by public‘ debate, is futile.—l am, etc., WATSON HOLMES.
