A LITTLE SUM.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—fiegarding the twenty men in Keiowna who each negotiated the valueless dollar cheque: ii" the last of the Kelowna sports brought the cheque hack to the drawer and used it to purchase goods to one dollar. you might have 21 people each making 25 cents profit. You might logically have 21,000 people each making 2?) cents. 11' the stunt were repeated 1000 times you would have 21,000 people each making 25,000 cents profit lhloodlessly. Who pay-s‘! The victims are the unfortunate holders of genuine money. whose holdings are depreciated by the inflation occasioned by the injection of the base currency. If the transaction were repeated with sumcient frequency the inflation would become apparent. Of course, there are irresponsibles‘ who challenge the divine right or the‘ holders of orthodox currency to have their preserves protected from ex-i pedients to do without real money] whereby the grip over the community‘ may be somewhat relaxed—l am, elc., W. Hamilton, New 4.
