DANGER OF TREES

I}. McLeod, at a meeting of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board to-day. The chairman. Mr J. Price, presided, while Messrs F. E. Flatt, U. A. Arthur. J. M. Allen, J. H. Pohlen, 11. )1. Corbett, Ct Mason. J. McCormick, F, J. Mayn. J. Anderson, H. Bush and W. C. Kennedy were also present. Mr McLeod and the manager, 311- it. Sprague, were in attendance. Mr McLeod said many lines were due for a complete overhaul, but the gangs had been unable to handle them, especially during the past, few strenuous months. A report on the position would be tabled at the next meeting of the finance committee, and in the meantime arrangements were being made for local labour to be used in cutting dangerous trees. The work of mhintenance was well behind and storms during the past three months had shown the necessity of its being kept up to data. Many service lines had been overhauled since the last storm. and 12 25ft poles had been replaced. lnspection in the most severely treated areas was proceeding rapidly and repairs and adjustments were being .hastened before the onset of winter. A consignment of over 300 poles had been landed and stacked at Matamata and Te Aroha for immediate renewals.
