In a comprehensive address he bore testimony to the work being accom.pSshed'throughout the Empire by the 'institute movement, and recounted its activities in England with which he was conversant. “ If it would be a spur to the develpoment iof the movement here," said Lord Bledisloe, “ Her Elcellency and I will be pleased to provide annually for the next five years a prize of £5 for the best essay by a New Zealander on the best means of ' making the Women’s Institutes a real benefit to the rural areas of New Zealand."
