SWIMMING.
MORRINSVILLE CLUB. THE ANNUAL-MEETING. • At the annual meeting 'of the Morrinsville Swimming Club the president, Mr M. G. Philpolt, presided. The annual report stated that the club had had a successful season, and that the finances were in a very satisfactory position, with a credit balance of £24, 8s- 3d. The two carnivals held had been a great success. The club had been allotted the 50 yards South Auckland cha/npionship and also held competitions for the Herbert 'Smith trophies. The 100 yards championship was won by W. Cameron and the Smith trophies by W. Coombe and B. Cpombe. The club’s membership during the year was a record, consisting of 30 adults and 50 juniors. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr Yardley; vice-presidents, Messrs Hannan, Needham and Philr pott; Secretary and treasurer, Mr Skeet; auditor, Mr McPherson; committee, Messrs Chapman, Barker, Butler, Clark, Ford, Dickenson and J. Barker; delegates to South Auckland Centre, Messrs Yardley and Chapman. Deiegaics were' given a free hand at the conference. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the retiring president, Mr Philpott, and the secretary, Mr Hawkins. Other matters discussed were the best means of getting instruction for children, the date of the carnivals, whether it was advisable to hold a central carnival at Morrinsville, and whether or not to put '£2o in fixed deposit at the Bank.
