ARAPUNI INVESTIGATION

SWEDISH ENGINEER’S VISIT. RETURN TO WELLINGTON. Professor P. J. Hornell, the Swedish engineer who has been engaged by the New Zealand Government to report on the Arapuni Hydro-electric scheme, has, together with Messrs F. W. Furkert, Government Chief Engineer, F. T. M. Kissell, electrical engineer to the Public Works Department, and .Dr. J. Henderson, Government geologist, who spent five days at Arapuni, returned to Wellington, where Professor Hornell lias established headquarters. Exploratory work is proceeding about various parts of the works, where spoil is being removed and tunnels driven. Professor Hornell will again pay a visit to Arapuni shortly, while the Minister of Public Works, Hon W. B. Taverner is expected there during the week-end.
