MOTORING ACCIDENTS.
CAR FALLS OVER CLIFF. BOXER’S NARROW ESCAPE. NEW PLYMOUTH, Friday. With practically sheer cliffs on either side of him, Mr Jack Jones, a professional boxer, of Hawera, was fortunate to escape injuries when in the darkness his light car fell over a lower and slightly inclined portion of the cliffs into the sea. The car fell about 30ft and landed in about a foot of water. f CAR AND VAN COLLIDE. YOUNG RIDER INJURED. ROTORUA, Friday. A collision occurred in Hinemoa Street between a motor-cycle ridden by John Lewis, aged 18, and a van driven by Mr Ernest Beckett. Lewis was taken to hospital in an'unconscious condition ' suffering from concussion and abrasions. Mr Beckett was not Injured. CAR CAPSIZES ON. HILL. TWO MEN HURT. WAIUKU, Friday. Two residents of Glenbrook were injured through a car in which they were returning home from Waiuku capsizing on a downhill grade about two miles out of town. The driver, Mr Harry Hammond, a natfve, was extensively cut on. the hands and knee and was considerably bruised, while Mr J. McKinney, who was with him, received pss severe cuts. CAR STRUCK BY TRAIN. ACCIDENT ON LEVEL CROSSING. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. A goods train travelling at 25 miles an hour struck a motor-car on the Sockburn level crossing this evening, and hurled the car about a chain, throwing it clear of the line against a fence. Three persons were in the car, but,only one, Mr James McClintock, ofTimaru, was hurt. He suffered head injuries and shock. His condition is satisfactory.
