TOWN PLANNING

HAMILTON REGION. BOROUGH RECOMMENDATION. On the recommendation of the Works Committee the Borough Council has decided that the evidence to be tendered before the Town Planning Board relating to the boundaries of the region in which Hamilton is situated should be to the effect that the region consist of the counties of Rag- - lan, Waikato, Piako, Matamata, Waipa, Otorohanga, Kawhia and Waitomo with all tlie boroughs and town districts in the area covered by their outer boundaries. In coming to ihis conclusion, the committee was chiefly guided by the fact that fhe population within this region would increasingly tend to make Hamilton their centre, and that train and other methods of transport serve the whole area from Hamilton. The committee also stated that the Coromandel Peninsula with tiie Hauraki Plains had no community of interest with the Waikato. The southern part of the Waitomo County was included because though it had little connection with Waikato, it appeared to be more closely associated with that area than with any other centre. County boundaries generally would provide a more convenient defining line than.any other method which had suggested itself Lo the committee.
