BOROUGH COUNCIL

WORKS COMMITTEE. REPORT ADOPTED. The Borough Council at its meeting last night decided to proceed with the following works recommended by the works committee. Dinsdale’s culvert to be widened, the work estimated to cost £2OO, £IOO to he found by the Waiph County Council. The footways on Te Aroha Street to be treated with Te Kawa grit as recommended by the engineer at a cost estimated at £7O, the work to be done early in the year. Oakley Avenue and Union Street to be asphalted at an estimated cost of £l3O, and the balance of the schedule deferred until the estimates are under discussion. . Consideration was deferred until the estimates were under consideration, of the following : —The road on the eastern and northern side of the Lake. Kerbing and footway on Seddon Road. Heavy Traffic District. All the local authorities in No. 3 Heavy Traffic District answered agreeing that the Magistrate’s order allocating fees for the period ending May 31, 1930, was to apply for the year ending May 31, 1931. The Mayor stated that this was very satisfactory.
