Shepherd was chairman. . . ~ An application for registration was received from N. J. Rusden, formerly of Auckland, who had played league football there. The application was referred to the Waikato Union with a favourable recommendation. Mr. Warring wrote accepting the office of Vice-president of the Union. Messrs. F. Quin, IT. Brown and A. A. llecse were appointed to attend a meeting of the Domain Board lo discuss matters of mutual interest. Correspondence was read inquiring if the Union would accept Gliaupo Football Club for affiliation as a junior or third grade learn. The secretary reported having replied stating the new arrangement by which only four clubs would he acceptable, each to have at least one senior and junior team. He had suggested that Ohaupo send representatives to the committee meeting. It was explained that the Waipa and Cambridge Rugby Unions’ boundaries are at Walker’s Gully, Kaipaki. Two years ago, as Ohaupo had no team, certain players near the boundary were allowed to play for Kaipaki in Cambridge Union games. Last year Cambridge Union and the Kaipaki Club asked that that arrangemnt be coniinued, and Ihc request was agreed to for the 1930 season.
Questions of Boundary. it was mentioned that the boundary was not strictly observed last season, and several Gliaupo players actually played for Kaipaki. The chairman suggested that as the Ohaupo club could not be accepted, perhaps (he Ohaupo players could form a third grade team and become allied to one of the four clubs in Waipa. It was decided lo inform Cambridge Union that Waipa could not agree to cede Ohaupo territory as in the two previous seasons.
It was suggested that Pirongia Club would be glad to receive any senior players from Ohaupo district and that other clubs could do with third grade players. When the matter of registration was under discussion Mr. Mairs mentioned that the position was difficult as regarded Waikeria, for names of players from the institution could not ne supplied. The union had, he thought sufficient confidence in Mr. Dunlop to rely on him to prevent substitution.— Agreed to. The secretary was instructed to invite entries for each of the grades—senior, junior, third, and fourth—hy Monday, April 14, at 5 p.m. Members favoured accepting High School as a separate entity without affiliation to any of the four seniior oiubs. Mr. Brown said the union especially excepted the fourth-grade teams from its restrictions as to four clubs in the other grades. Fourth-Grade Competition. It was decided to conduct a fourth grade competition, if possible, conditions governing such competition to be determined at the next committee meeting. The chairman and Messrs. Brown and Mairs were appointed a sub-com-mittee to prepare draft rules for a fourth-grade competition. Mr. E. Jefferies was unanimously appointed senior representative selector; Mr A. A. Reese is to be junior selector; and Mr. H. V. Collison will select the third grade teams. The secretary, Waipa Referees’ Association, advised: ‘'l have been instructed to inform you that this Association is again going to stringently enforce the local rule which allows 15 minutes grace only in all matches.” —Approved. Mr Silvester voiced 'the opinion of the Pirongia Club I hat representative matches be not played until at least the first round of the championships is completed.—Decision deferred, but members expressed agreement.
