The customs revenue in Hie Commonwealth for March rose to an unprecedented figure, namely, £4,729,00(0 This is £1,419,000 more than for Hie corresponding month of last year. Thai imports should have increased in this remarkable manner at a time of great financial stringency is ihc subject of much comment. The explanation is largely provided by the fear of importers that further tariff increases are pending. The increase also reflects the frenzied rush to remove goods from bond. The postal revenue for (March shows a huge increase.
