Scene: “Smoker” of city tram-car. Stern-faced anli-Lobaccoite io stranger in the full enjoyment of his pipe: “Do you know, my ifriend, there’s enough poison in that pipe of yours to lull a field-mouse or 37 blue bottle flies?” “That so? Well, if ever I see a field-mouse smoking a pipe I’ll tel'l the cat!” Joking apart, there’s a lot of nonsense t-alked and written about smoking. But as long as the ■baccy is pure, with little nicotine in it, it can’t do much harm. But there’s the rub! The imported tobaccos just reek with nicotine. That’s why t heir habitual use is so unwise. They arc destructive to the nerves and ofLon affect the heart. Too much nicotine.! How is it? Our New Zealand brands are all but free from the poison. You can smoke them freely with absolute safety. Thousands of smokers are doinit. Oh, yes, there are brands to suit, nil tastes. Those most fancied are: “Navy Cut,” “Cavendish.” “Riverhead Gold,” and “Cut Plug No. 10.” (N.P.57.)
