UNIVERSITY CONTEST. WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The annual eight-oared boat race of the New Zealand University Colleges, is to take place on Saturday, April 19, at Auckland. The trophy for the event is a shield of beautiful Maori carving, which was presented by Misses Heberly, of Lower Hutt. In the . last three years Victoria College has been successful, and has a good crew this year. The sole selector has chosen the following crew to represent Victoria College:—Bell (stroke), Mullins i 7), Gane (6), Kemp (5), Steele (4), MacGregor (3), McGavin (2). Rees (bow), Gooch (cox). The following crew will represent the Canterbury College Rowing Club at the New Zealand University tournament to be held in Auckland at Easter: —T. H. McCombs, H. C. Holland, C. H- J. Gilby, S. B. Wallace, T. R. Evans, H. Waymouth, V. Smith, and D. M. Patterson.
