GLEN AFTON NEWS
TENNIS CLUB’S EVENING. An evening was spent at the Glen Afton Hall recently in honour of Miss Kathleen Milner, a member of the tennis club, who is shortly to toe married. Supper was provided by the ladies’ committee. A presentation was made to Miss Milner, by Mr. E. Kernohan, secretary of the tennis club and Mr. Milner, snr., responded on behalf of the guest-of-honour. After supper a social and dance was held till the early hours of the morning, when .“Auld Lang Syne ” brought a very happy evening to an end. Kitchen Evening. A kitchen and social evening was given ’by the Glen Afton and Pukeiniro Women’s Insthute and ’’eridentj of the district to Miss Margaret Adams in Ike Glen Afton llall. The prcsidenl, Mrs D. W. Thomas, on behalf of the Institute, made a presentation to Miss Adams. A very enjoyable evening was spent with dancing and games. A song was rendered by Mrs G. Green. Miss Adams received a full table of kitchenware and linen. The music was supplied by 'Mrs P. Milner, Miss L. Simpson, Mr J. Greenhorn, Mr Phillip Hunter and Mr J. Pears. A hearty vote of thanks was called for the ladies who helped to make the evening a success. Mr A. Black performed the duties of M.'C.

Adams, figured crepe de chine, uneven hemline; M. Hamilton, green crepe de chine and georgette; M. Feat'herstone, black satin and diamante trimmings; Lucy Curran, black crepe de chine and oriental trimmings; E. Curran; M. Curragh, ivory pink crepe de chine; L. Simpson, pink silk regise; D.
