Throughout last night noisy demonstrations were made. The “Red Flag” was sung with enthusiasm and beating on tin cans helped to increase the turmoil.

FIERCE FIGHT IN AMERICA. BEATEN INTO SUBMISSION. NEW YORK, March 28. A short but violent riot was the climax to a meeting of prisoners in the State gaol-at Jefferson City, Missouri. Warders, armed with clubs and having gas bombs and machineguns in reserve, beat 750 felons into submission in 45 minutes of fierce fighting. The prisoners had complained of the food and commenced rioting at luncheon time. However, the warders were prepared. Seventy-five of the mutineers were sent to hospital with injured heads.
