TRANSVAAL ELECTIONS.
CRESWELLITES ELIMINATED. GAINS FOR AFRICAN PARTY. railed Press Assn. —Klee. Tel.—Copyright. CAPETOWN, March 27. The Provincial Council elect ion in the Transvaal lias resulted in the elimination of the Crcswellite section of the Labour Party. Substantial gains for the South African Party arc recorded in contituencies won by Ministerialists at the general election in June, 1929.
LATER. AN AWKWARD SITUATION. EVEN NUMBERS IN VOTING. (Received March 29, 10.40 a.m.) CAPETOWN, March 28. The Transvaal Provincial Council eietcion results create an awkward position'for General Hertzog’s Cabinet, for, all the Creswell (Labour) Party candidates having been defeated, including Messrs- Creswcll and Sampson, the Nationalists must supply the chairman of the Council, thus creating even numbers, 20 —20, upon questions ou which opposition is united.
