QUICK TURNOVER
WHAT ADVERTISING CAN DO. rha-fc consistent, well-directed advertising increases turnover was the point ■hammered home 'by Mr William Sullivan when addressing the Brisbane Retail Grocers’ Association recently. The arguments in favour of increased turnover were thus set forth by Mr Sullivan: — 1. The quicker you sell the less capital you need. 2. A quick sale enables you to take less profit and yet make higher dividends. 3. It gets rid of shelf-worn stock and keeps the whole shop fresh. (There is a grocer in America, who turns over his stock 17 times in one year and advertises as his slogan: “A new shop every 21 days.” He makes 17 profiis ■on his capital, and his capital increases every three weeks. 4. It gives you more ready money and enables you to take' advantage of trade discounts. 5. It keeps your sales people and your buyers wide awake and prevents dry rot. The more times a store turns over its stock in a year, the more profit it gets on its capital, without increasing its prices.
