ROAD TO KAWHIA.
IMPORTANT PROPOSAL. LESSENING THE DISTANCE. DEPUTATION TO MINISTER. Among the matters which it is understood will be brought before the Minister of Public Works, Hon. E. A. Ransom, during his visit here tomorrow will be a request that the work started on the main road to Kawhia be completed. The opening-up of this road was commenced a few years ago, but was abandoned. Its completion would bring Hamilton within 30 miles of the Kawhia Harbour. At a recent meeting ihe To Palm branch of the Farmers’ Union passed a resolution urging the continuation of the work. Commenting on the scheme to a Waikato Times reporter this morning, Mr J. A. Young, M.P., pointed out that the road, if finished, would bring Kawhia into much closer touch with Hamilton, and would give direct access tn the Okupata, Oparau and Moerangi districts. 'l'llc work would make a saving of 20 miles on the present journey from here lo Kawhia, and should he an opportunity for work for some of the district's unemployed, added Mr Young,
