POISONED MEAT.

— FOUND LYING ON ROAD. PUKEKOIIE, Wednesday. A charge of having left poisoned meat in a public place was prefeiied against Henry Skewes, of Te Kauwhata, in the Pukekohe Police Court. Ruth Giles gave evidence that she saw accused throw a brown paper parcel from his gig on to the road -outside the house where she lrved. Later that day her young sister found a parcel outside the house and took itto her mother, who opened it and found meat covered with crystals, later identified as poison. The same night their dog was discovered dead under the house. The case was adjourned.
