IN PRISON IN MOSCOW.
HOW HE WAS KIDNAPPED. A SENSATIONAL STORY. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel.—Copyright. PARIS, March 24. The Llberte in a special edition, has caused a sensation by r a declaration that General Koutepoff the leader of the Russian Whites in Paris who mysteriously* disappeared is kept a prisoner in Moscow. The paper says it has hitherto been silent at the express wish of the Prefect of Police in order not to interfere with their investigations, but it considers it is now freed from the obligation because in a few hours the France will know in detail the \Vhole circumstances of kidnapping. The paper adds: “If we are giving the news before the -police asked, we ear excused bceause w r e consider if our duty.” He was taken aboard a Soviet vessel on the Normandy coast, close to the town of Houlgate. On arrival at Moscow every means, including -torture, were used to extract the names of the White Russian .spies in Moscow. Thes ewere then to be arrested and executed. The Soviet would then announce a vast conspiracy against -the Soviet, alleging complicity of the French Government. The plan failed because the kidnapping was made known throughout -the world. Llberte concludes: “General Koutepoff has been imprisoned in -the Lousians Kaia prison; he is alive, or at least he was alive -six days ago. The only hope is that the French Government will act forthwith.”
