AT FRANKTON YARDS. COW BEEF EASIER. AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS. There was a medium yarding of fat ■and store cattle at the weekly stock sale at the Frankton yards yesterday. The sale was w r ell attended and competition was keen. Sheep were penned in very large numbers anc there was a heavy yarding of fat and store pigs. Ox beef sold up to the previous week’s rates, though- cow beef was slightly easier. Sheep quotations were on a par with the previous sale, and fat pig prices weie the same as ruling last week. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Lid., report:—At the weekly stock sale in the Frankton yards we had a good yarding of all classes of cattle and a heavy yarding, of sheep. Prime fat bullocks were firm at late rates, and the same can he said of prime ’ quality young cows. Second quality and store cows sold at late rates. Fat sheep were penned in good numbers, and sold at last week's quotations, while the large yarding of store lambs showed a decided drop in price. Breeding ewes were also slightly easier. There was a full yarding of fat pigs, which met with keen competition. Baconers averaged 7M per lb. while porkers averaged 7:}d to 7}d per lb. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, Hamilton, report having held their weekly slock sale at Frankton saleyards on Tuesday Ihe 2nih instant as under :—There was a fairly large yarding of licet and prices were a shade lower than last week. Best young cows sold at up lo £9 ss; ordinary good quality fat cows at £7 10s to £8 1.7 s Gel: others, £5 10s to £6 10s: light Jersey cows, £i lo £;> 2s Gd. There was a small yarding of store cattle which met with a weak demand. There was an average yarding ol‘ fat sheep. Fat wethers sold at up to 30s Gd. for extra heavy: ordinary fat wethers, 27s Gd; fat ewes extra good, 225; ordinary fat ewes, 15s to IGs Gd; woolly fat lambs up to 20s. Loan and 'Mercantile Agency Co., Lid., Hamilton, report: — There was a large offering of beef at the Hamilton sale yesterday and although a good proportion was firstcia§s quality a further decline in values resulted. The yarding or sheep and pigs again filled all available space. Prices for fat sheep were not quite so good as last week and the demand for breeding ewes and store lambs was weaker and prices easier. Siore wethers maintained late rates.
