ELDERLY MAN’S DEATH. SUFFOCATED BY GAS. United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. —Copyright. SYDNEY, March 24. Joseph Tait, aged 72, was found dead in a house at Annandale, a suburb of Sydney. He had been sullocatcd by gas, which was ccaping from an old-fashioned chandelier. In other rooms on the same floor two elderly women were found unconscious. STRANGLED IN H!S CELL. Robert Turnbull, aged 33, who was arrested a few days ago on a charge of wounding, was found strangled in a cell at the Metropolitan Gaol, Coburg. Pieces of clothing were in the man’s moulh and a pyjama cord was around his throat.
