CRICKET COMPETITIONS IN HAMILTON.
GOOD SCORING IN THE VARIOUS GRADES. R. SKEET COMPILES 123 RUNS. FULL DETAILS OF THE LATEST GAMES. Bright batting characterised the Senior A grade cricket competitions at Seddon Park on Saturday. Old Boys started fairly well against Hamilton, but were all out for 215 as the result of keen fielding and capable bowling. Hamilton, with only ono wicket down, had made 115 and their prospects for the concluding day’s play are very favourable. Hamilton East, who are in a strong position for the championship, look as If they will account for Frankton on their form on Saturday,, although It is noteworthy that two men were chiefly responsible for the total of 280 on the first strike. Frankton, had lost two wickets for. 23 at stomps. There were also some good batting displays In the Senior R. competitions, quite a few batsmen compiling creditable totals. Sn the second day’s matches of the one-day series of games Ngaruawahia and High School played a drawn gam© on the High School ground and Cambridge and Y.M.C-A. gained three-point wins over Hamilton East and Railway respectively. Th© Junior competition was advanced a further stage on Saturday. Full details of the matches appear below.

EAST OUT FOR 280. SKEET IN GREAT FORM. the century passed. . The chief feature of the first inn- \ ings of the match Hamilton East against Frankton on No. 2 wicket was the fine score put up by R. Skeet, who withstood all attempts to remove him until he was run out at 123. But for Skeet and Hampton the East side would have. been in no position to offer serious resistance to Frankton. Frankton 1 s new bowler, Willmott., captured three wickets in succession, but 61 runs were scored off him and the bowling honours were fairly well divided. .Badcley, who can usually be depended upon to reach good figures with the bat, was not very 1 prominent on Saturday. He just attained double figures when a stroke from a rising ball from Ward on which Ewan closed proved his undoing. Frankton’s fielding could have been improved, especially on the boundaries. Lee and Connolly opened the batting for Frankton but were soon disposed of. The latter went out on an IJd.w. appeal, the ball causing a painful leg Injury, The side had lost two wickets for 23 at stumps. Detailed scores are:— Hamilton East. First Innings. H. Old Boys’ first innings against Hamilton on No. 1 wicket produced 215, to which the principal contributors were Senior and Buckland, who formed a profitable partnership and knocked up a large number of runs In short time. The total score was, however, kept in limits by Taylor, the Hamilton bowler, who proved very successful and clean bowled no fewer than five men. Horspool, the last man, seemed set for a good stay at the wickets but after compiling 16 he was held by r Winger off one of Taylor’s fast rising bails. Hamilton made an exceptionally promising start and had made 115 for the loss of only one wicket at stumps.
Lissette played a nice bat and compiled his 48 in quick time, having established a good understanding with Winger, w r ho also hit out confidently. With only 100 leeway to make up, and nine wickets still, to fall, Hamilton should give a good account of itself when the match is concluded next Saturday. Detailed scores are : Old Eoys.
