NGARUAWAHIA NEWS.
SOCIAL AFTERNOON. A very pleasant social afternoon 'was given by Mrs D. McKeown, ol' Ngaruawahia, in honour of her guest, Miss Birch, of Auckland, who is spending a holiday with her. Mrs McKeown received her guests wearing a frock of biege crepe de chine, • relieved with cream lace. Miss Birch wore a frock of florai crepe de chine with lemon trimmings. Among the ladies present were: Mrs Clavis, Mrs Isdale, Mrs Burke, Mrs Scott, Mrs Joy,, Mrs Adams, Mrs Welsh, Mrs Cameron, Mrs McGruer, Mrs Saulbrey, Mrs Feeney, Mrs Cavanagh, Mrs L. Pettit, Mrs Christie, Mrs Willoughby (Hamilton), Mrs v Reeves (Hamilton), Mrs Grant (Hamilton), Mrs Jenkinson (Hamilton), Mrs '9, Burton and Miss Saulbrey. Garden golf was played on the lawn, the winner of the competition being Mrs Pettit, and Mrs Grant the consolation prize. The party then adjourned to the drawing room which was decorated with zinnias, asters and helliums. Winners of indoor competitions were Mrs Isdale and Miss Birch, the consolation prizes being won by Mrs Welch and Mrs Feeney respectively. During the course of the afternoon musical items were rendered by Mrs Welch, Mr 3 Grant and Mrs Scott.
