AUSTRALIAN XI.

MATCH AT PERTH. HOME TEAM OUT FOR IG7. United Press Assn.—Klee. Tel.—Copyrignt. PERTH, March 21. The Australian lost cricket team began a match to-day against Western Australia. The weather was very sultry and the visitors went on the ground shortly after a gruelling trip by the railway. The attendance was fair. Australia sent Western Australia in to bat. The wicket was bad, with a patch at one end which favoured the fast bowlers. At luncheon Western Australia had made 62 for two wickets, by careful and uninteresting batting. Play improved in the afternoon. Wilherforce reached double figures in 16 minutes. Lang, a new country player, withstood the bowling for 95 minutes for 29 runs. Grimmett took two wickets with successive balls in a maiden over.

Tiie Western Australian innings ended shortly after tea for 167. Grimmett secured six wickets for .75 runs. Fidock, the lop-scorer, lifted Grimmett’s first hall for four, and sent the next over the fence for six, and two balls later for four. He was loudly cheered. The Australian team hit freely until the innings was closed owing to bad weather and light. Details of the scores are as follows :
