FREE FAIR.
FUN AT FERRY BANK. CROWDS EXPECTED TO-NIGHT. The free fair at Ferry Bank, whicr. is being held in aid of the funds of the Hamitlon Beautifying Society, will close to-night. This afternon a big crowd attended and enjoyed the gaiety. To-night should see a big influx to participate in the dancing and general fun. The Caledonian Pipe Band will he in attendance and, with the music of the round-abouts, the cries of the showmen, the laughter of the crowds, the fairyland touch provided by the strings of coloured electric lights above the green sward and beautiful flower beds, the scene should be one of charm and abandon. Before the fair closes there will he an auction of all the produce and other goods remaining on the stills. This afternoon many people * watched with interest a display of bridge building given by boy scouts. Another feature of this afternoon’s session was maypole dancing by a number of children trained by Mrs H. Piper. The big pull, in which a number of teams of stalwart men vied in a tug-o’-war, also created considerable interest and excitement.
