DISEASE AMONG BIRDS.
IMPORTATION STOPPED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. According to a statement made by Hon. P. A. de la Perrellc to-day, reports have been received 'by the Government that psittacosis is primarily a disease of parrots and allied species, but the disease also affects smaller birds, and acting on the advice of the Health Department it has been decided not to issue any further authorities for the importation of birds for 12 months, when the matter will be reviewed.
