CRICKET.
WAIKATO ASSOCIATION. (VSANAQQ.IVIEWT COMMITTEE MEETS Mr R. Johnston junr. presided at a meeting- of the management committee of tfi,e Waikato Cricket Association, which took place at the Y.M.C.A. Primary Schools. Mr W. Carle, the primary schools delegate to the committee attended and reported that tiis executive had not as yet come to any decision on the question of schoolboy ground fees, but that, there would certainly be some amounts forthcoming, as the Schools Association recognised ils obligations towards the Cricket Association. Permission was then granted lo the primary schools in continue their competition for another week on (lie association's grounds. South Auckland Shield. The Wnipa Associalion wrole asking if the Piako Association was issuing a challenge for the shield Ibis season. The secretary was directed lo make the necessary inquiries. Reid Cup.
The secretary reported that he had one reply only from teams in ttie A section in answer to his inquiry if 11 ie.se learns desired to play a short round while the B section competition was being completed, and in view of this no further games had been arranged. Two teams which requested a friendly encounter wore instructed to make their own arrangements and apply lo the management committee for grounds. In regard to Hie final of the competition, it was decided that ‘the two leading teams in each section should play a knock-oul, semi-final and final. Easter Cricket. Mr John Reid, or Wellington, wrote advising that Mr 11. M. McOirr's louring team would he unable lo visit Ilamilion at Master. The Taranaki Cricket Association accepted the Waikato Cricket Association’s invitation to play South Auckland at Hamilton on Master Saturday and Master Monday. Good Friday Cricket. On a proposition to invite the Thames Association to play at Hamilton on Good Friday, there was some difference of opinion shown as to the
propriety of cricket on that day. A motion,that no play be indulged in on Good Friday was, however, defeated, and tlic original proposal lo invite Thames to Hamilton on that day was endorsed. Permission was also granted to Hie Y.M.C.A. Club to play a match in Hamilton againsL Western laiitod (Auckland) on Good Friday, another at Morrinsvillc on April I‘Jlh. (Master Saturday), and another against an Auckland suburban team on Master Monday, at Hamilton. The secretary was instructed to enquire of the sub-associations the names of those players who were available and eligible lo play in Hie South land team against Taranaki at Easter
time, and the same selection committee, consisting of Messrs W. Everest, R. Johnston jnr., and A. J. Shepherd (Te Awamulu), who selected the South Auckland team against the M.G.C. were appointed to select the team to play against Taranaki.
