DINSDALE’S CULVERT.

BiG WIDENING SCHEME. WAIPA COUNTY’S ASSISTANCE. A proposal for extending Dinsdale’s culvert, Frankton, at an estimated cost ol' £2OO was recommended by Mr r. Worley borough engineer, in a letter tabled at the Borough Council meeting last evening. As it was one of the entrances to the town it was desirable that it should be widened. The present agitation to have the culvert widened came mainly from residents whose children attended the Frankton School. It was stated that the present narrow width of the culvert was a danger to children. These residents were ail Waipa County ratepayers and he understood the County Council was prepared to contribute half tne cost. The proposal was to extend the culvert 23 feet upstream, permitting of Hie roadway being widened by 20ft and making it 30 feet between railsThe* mall or was referred to Ino Works' ComrnilLco with power to act, [he engineer' staling that lie had understood from the Waipa County engineer llial Waipa would assist to the extent of £IOO.
