MESSAGE FROM MAWSON.
FAVOURABLE WEATHER. MARINE STUDIES CONTINUED. (Copyright from Sir D. Maw-son.) CANBERRA, March 18. “The weather being favourable we continued the marine studies, though the ships’ heavy rolling interfered somewhat with the soundings. “At noon on Sunday our position was 38.42 south 108.55 east, and we were receiving radio broadcast from Australia clearly. The music of a church service in Sydney is coming in as we are writing,. Surface cold; fresh waters of Polar origin arc no longer encountered. Quantities of ncklonic and planktonic life are caught daily, including numbers of deep-sea fishes from depths of 2000 metres.”
