An alleged triple murder, of a sort said to be unprecedented In the history of crime, came before the Court at lvorneuburg, eight miles north-west of Vienna. A young farmer, Franz Neumaycr. was accused of hilling his brother and two cyclists, strangers to him, on August 3, 1029, by stretching a wire across a road, which tie connected with an overhead power cable, which was capable of discharging a current of 20.000 volts into any one passing. The case offered no clue until the police found that Ncumayer was an expert electrician, and that he would also succeed to his brother’s inheritance in case of his death. Ncumayer first denied his guilt, and then confessed, and finally retracted his confession.
