management committee. PEACE CUP RULES. The Management Committee of the Hamilton Rugby Union met last even- ; ing, Mr W. Udy presiding. | Air C. Speight reported that the meeting of the sub-unton delegates had taken place under the presidency of Mr H. Hayes’ Paddock. The sub-committee set up to report on' playing ground possibilities at Hayes’ Paddock, Hamilton East, stated that it had inspected the area and that it was proposed to utilise immediately the flat area to lay out two playing areas. The committee submitted an approximate cost of laying down the proposed area in grass and was authorised to proceed with the work. Rugby Park Lighting. It was resolved to proceed with the work of lighting the -proposed training area at Rugby Park. The Annual Meeting. The annual meeting will take place on Thursday, March 27, at Toorak Chambers. Appreciative reference was made to the excellent way in which the property of the union had been treated by the Technical School cadets during the week's “barracks,” and it was resolved to write to the principal of the Technical School expressing ithc union’s appreciation.
THE CAMBRIDGE UNION. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. Following out the request of the Waikato Union that sub-unions hold their annual meetings earlier this year with a view to making an earlier start with football, the old committee of the Cambridge Sub-union held a meeting in preparation for the annual meeting which as to be held on Thursday, March 27. There were present:— Messrs T. S. Cray (president), J. Gardiner, H. Cubis, J. Bourke, A. Harris, P. Te Kata, C. Hodgson, and -the secretary, Mr V. G. Boulton. The president and secretary reported on the recent conference held at Hamilton to consider amendments to the Peace Cup rules. —The amendments met with the hearty approval of the meeting.
The secretary presented a draft of the annual report and -balance-sheet, which were approved, the balancesheet showing the finances of the union to be in a very healthy state. Following a recommendation tabled at the last -meating of the committee at the end of the playing season, the secretary was -instructed to advertise with the annual meeting notice the notice of motion that the number of vice-presidents this year be limited to three and that they have a vote on the management committee. It was also decided to recommend, to the incoming management -committee that in view of tiie heavy calls upon the union’s insurance scheme last season the table of payments be on a slightly lighter scale. It was suggested that the number of weeks for which an injured player may claim £2 per week be shortened, and that the table on the basis of £2 a week for so many weeks and £1 a week for the balance. Under the existing rules the union pays an insured player totally incapacitated £2 a week for eight weeks. ■ It was decided that -the procedure at the annual meeting be in exact accordance with the rules as to voting, in that each -senior club is entitled to send three voting delegates to the meeting and each junior club one delegate; also one delegate' for the Referees’ Association and Primary Schools’ Association. Members of affiliated clubs and honorary members of the sub-union may attend and speak, but will not be entitled to vole. The Hautapu Club advised its annual meeting on Monday, and Tauwhare on Friday. , . ,
WALTON FOOTBALL CLUB. At the annual meeting of the Walr ton Football Club the president, Air J. W. Attwood, presided. The following new members were proposed: G. Groube, C. O’Brien, A. Crosslcy, C. 11. Robinson, C. AicCormick, A. Conning. The -chairman reported a successful season last year. The finances were satisfactory considering there was-only one team operating. Tire expenditure for the year was £l4 is 9d and the income was £l3 16s lid. W-ith the credit balance from last year brought forward there was -still a balance of £l9 0s 7d to the credit of the club. The election of officers resulted: Air AV. Dixin, J.P., patron; Air W. J. Attwood, president ; Messrs R. B. S. Watson, J. Steel and L. Alapp, vice-presi-dents; Air C. O’Brien, secretary; Mr W. AV. Khutz, 'treasurer. The president, secretary and treasurer were appointed delegates to the Alatamata Union.
A long discussion took place as to how many teams would be placed in the field. It was decided to -have a senior and a junior team. Air AV. AA 7 . Kubtz was elected senior selector, and it was decided to give local hoys preference. The Alanagement Committee was appointed as follows: Chairman, secretary, treasurer, C. Fausett, A. AVallace, A. Ouslon and A. McDonald. It was rseolved that Mr AV. Dixon be thanked for the use of his paddock last season and requested to again allow the club to have the use of it. Members’ subscriptions were fixed at ss.
