WAIKATO CLUB FIXTURE. the autumn meeting. EXCELLENT NOMINATIONS. Splendid nominations have been received for the Autumn Meeting of the Waikato Trotting Club to be held on the club’s course, Claudelands, on April 5. The entries in every event are well up to last year’s figures, with an average of 21 to each event and the class of horse engaged should ensure a first class programme. The Improvers’ Handicap, as also the Progressive Handicap, which were 1& mile events last year, have both been extended to 1 5-8 mile distances. Christchurch, Auckland and Waikato stables are all strongly represented. The Waikato Handicap, the chief event on the card has drawn a field of 21 probables, while a small hut useful field of nine have nominated for Members’ Handicap for unhoppled trotters. ACCEPTANCES CLOSE ON FRIDAY. The annual meeting of the Thames Trotting Club is set down for Saturday, March 29, at tho Parawal course. This has always been a popular gathering for patrons of the light harness . sport and the coming occasion should find attendance figures reach highwater mark. The horses entered are of an even grade and good fields can be looked for. Acceptances for all events will close on Friday next, March 21, at 5 p.m., with the secretary (Mr E. O. Brownlee), at Thames, or with Mr R. L. Absolum, the secretary of the Otahuhu Trotting Club, Auckland.
