SITUATION IN CHINA.
WAR THREATENING. MOST SERIOUS EXPERIENCED. REBEL LEADERS CONFIDENT. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel.—Copyright. (Received March 18.. 9.50 a.m.) SHANGHAI, March 17. According to Japanese messages from Tientsin the threatening war promises to bo the most serious China has experienced. .In announcing mobilisation en masse, Shansi, Kuominchun and Kuangsl reports emphasise that It is a definite anti-Chang movement, thoroughly organised, comparod with previous ventures. The rebel loaders are convinced that the previous failures were due to looseness of organisation. They spent the last month In tightening internal bonds, consequently It Is expected that the worst war fought in the history of the Republic Is about to commence. St Is not expected, however, that major clashes will occur Immediately, because the contending forces are still some distance apart and both are stiil endeavouring to offer sufficient inducement to Chang Su Chiang to comei south of the Great Wall.
