EXCESSIVE SPEED.

MANY MOTORISTS FINED. CASES AT NGARUAWAIIIA. In the Court at Ngaruawtahia, before Messrs R. D. Duxfield and 11. F. Rogers, J.’sP., Mr E. H. Barnett, traffic inspector for the Highways Board, and Mr A. I. McGuire, inspector for the Waikato County, appeared for the prosecution in cases for breach of tlie motor regulations. For crossing the railway line at Taupiri with his car when the line was not clear Arthur Hale was fined £l, with 10s costs.

G. Ireland, for speeding at 43 miles per hour at Te Rapa, was fined £3, with 10s costs.

Leslie Cromie. speeding at 42 miles per hour, fined £3, costs 10s. S. 11. Paul, for speeding at GO miles per hour, fined £5, 10s costs. T. M. Ford, driving at 41 miles per hour at Te Rapa, fined £2, 10s costs. Percy Free, speeding at 41 miles per hour, at Te Rapa, fined £2 and costs.

A. C. Booth, putting up 45 miles per hour, fined £2, costs 10s. Wm. Nicholson, driver of a service car, for putting up 351 miles per hour in Frankton, fined £5, 10s costs.

Geo. Gibson, driving for a transport company, with loaded lorry, carrying 51 tons at 351 miles per hour, was fined £5, 10s costs. W. C. Bickley, charged with speeding, pleaded guilty, and asked for leniency. On a second offence lie was charged with driving an empty Jorrv at, 45 miles per hour. In Ihe first case he was fined £5, costs 10s, and in the second rase 10s costs. One month was allowed for payment. Wm. Fox, charged with driving an overloaded lorry on the TaupiriOrini road, was fined £2, with 10s costs. , Parauni Tolo (driver) and Chas. Thompson pleaded guilty to two offences for driving an overloaded lorry on Hie Taupiri-Orini road. The charge against Tolo was withdrawn. Mr McGuire stated that Ihe onus of complying with Ihe regulations was on the owner of Ihe. license. Defendant was fined £5 and costs 10s on the first charge, and ordered to pay .costs in the seeond casa.
