LONDON MARKETS. WELLINGTON, Monday. The Department of Agriculture "has received the following cablegram, dated March 15, frorv the High Commissioner for New Zealand in London : Tallow.—No auction this week. The market is quiet but there is a little more demand for near parcels at fully late rates. Wool.-—Bradford market quiet and waiting for the opening of the London sales. Present quotations are:—64’s warp, 2s 3d; average, 2s 2d; 56’s, Is 7Jd; 50’s prepared, Is sd; 40’s prepared, Is 2Jd to Is 3d. Hemp.—Manila: This week the market opened weak, but owing to a good demand, prices were firmer at the close. “J ” .grade March-May shipment sold at £29 10s. Sisal firm. Fair average quality No. 1 March-May shipment'sold at £33 10s, and good marks are quoted at £34, No. 2 quoted at 20s less. New Zealand : Market dull. Nominal comparative, closing values for March-May shipment arc: Illghpoints, £3l 10s; common, £26; No. 2 tow, £2O 10s; and No. 3, £l7. A small parcel of fair was sold afloat at £27 10s, London. RANGJRSRI STOCK SALE.
The Farmers’ 'Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd-, report that at their Bangiriri slock sale a good yarding of cattle came forward. Prices throughout were on a par with iato rates, with little demand for young stock. Quotations: —Light fat cows, £6 10s to £7 6s; forward-con-ditioned cow’s, £5 7s 6d (to £6 ss; store cows, £3 10s to £5; cows with calves, £5 5s to £6 7s; dairy heifers, in milk, £6 10s to £7 15s; dairy heifers, springing, £6 15s to £8; 18months Shorthorn steers, £5 9s to £7; yearling Shorthorn steers, £4 2s 6d to £4 17s 6d; yearling steers, £2 5s to £3 15s; 18-months in-calf heifers, £5 15s to £6 7s 6d,; yearling heifers, £3 5s to £3 10s; heifer calves, Shorthorn, £2 18s to £3 6s; smalt heifer calves, £1 10s to £2 10s; potting bulls, £2 15s to £4.
CAMBRIDGE STOCK SALE. The Farmers’ 'Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report: At Cambridge sale wc penned a good yarding of cattle and sheep. Late rates were maintained throughout. A line of 13 dairy cows on account of Mr A. E. Peppercorn, Leamington, averaged £lO 12s 6d. Quotations: Fat wethers, 22s 9d to 25s 6d; forward lambs, woolly, 21s: good woolly lambs, 14s 3d to 17s 9d; smaller woolly lambs, 12s to 13s 3d; cull lambs, 7s 8d; 2-tootli ewes, 275; F.M. ewes, 12s to 14s !)d; cull ewes, 9s Gd to 12s: fat cows, 6s -id to 8s lid; forward cows, £5 'to £5 17s 6d; store cows, £3 to £3 15s; heifer calves, £2 2s to £3 7s 6d. Pigs: Stores, 35s to £2; slips, 29s to 335; weaners, 12s 6d to 22s Cd- Dairy cows: Best Jersey and Jersey-cross dairy cows, £lO to £l2 10s; others, £8 to £9 10s.
