DAIRYING INDUSTRY.

THE LATEST RETURNS. INCREASE IN EXPORT OF BUTTER. Statistics issued by the New Zealand Dairy Produce Board show that there was an increase of G 72 tons in the amount of butter exported from the Dominion last moniih, compared with February of last year. The increase for the period from August 1 t.o the end of February was 3898 tonsA decrease of 1124 tons is shown in the amount of cheese exported last month compared with February 01. ■last year, while for the period of seven months there was a decrease of 1306 tons. Of the butler shipped to the United Kingdom last month, 93 per cent- was consigned and 7 per cent, was sold f.o.b. at the tame of shipment. Of the cheese shipped 70 per cent, was consigned and 30 per cent, was sold f.o.b. The following shipments of butter and cheese were made to overseas ports last month, the figures for February, 1929, being given in brackets: London, 6559 tons (7849); West Coast, port of the United Kingdom, 1135 (144); Vancouver, 543 (362); Halifax, 7G7 (nil); Honolulu, 44 (46); other countries, 64 (44); Panama, 23 (18); New York, nil (nil); totals, 9135 (8463). Cheese: London, 7466 tons (10,461); West Coast ports, 1881 (nil) ; Australia, nil (nil); Vancouver, 10 (19); oilier countries, 10 (nil) ; New York, nil (11); totals, 9367 (10,491). The following table gives the exports of butter and cheese, in tons, from the Dominion during the period from August 1 to February 28, this season and last season:—
