HIT BY A TRAIN. CHINESE CRITICALLY INJURED. AUCKLAND, Saturday. Ching Doo (25) was struck by the ) daylight limited when the train was entering Otahuhu station at 8.12 this morning. He sustained serious injuries and is now in hospital in a critical condition. He was walking across the railway line with a sack of vegetables on his back. Although the engine whistled he evidently did not realise that the train was so near. AUCKLAND, Monday. Ching Doo died in the hospital yesterday morning. MOTORIST KILLED. CAR GOES OVER BANK. DUNEDIN, Saturday. John Land, a contractor of Edievale, single (45), was killed last evening. He was driving a car near Rae’s Junction when it left the road, falling 50 feet into a creek. Mr and Mrs Paul and child, the other occupants of the car, were injured and were removed to the Lawrence hospital. SUCCUMBED TO INJURIES. KNOCKED DOWN BY A CAR. WELLINGTON, Saturday. Through stepping back when he heard a motor horn, Francis John Munson (52) was knocked down in Featherston Street on March 4 and died in the hospital. At the inquest to-day a verdict was returned that deceased died after an operation for head injuries caused by his being accidentally struck by a motor-car driven by Francis Charles Holmes.
