Notice is given by advertisement that the annual meeting in connection with the above institution will be held on Wednesday next, at Bp. in, The following is the report to be submitted to the meeting:--"The committee have pleasure in reporting that the library still keeps up its standing in the public estimation, and that the amount of subscriptions received still continue to increase yeai by year, Owing to the resignation of the chairman, Mr Dyer one of the committee was appointed, The committee take this opportunity of ec,ain conveying their best thanks to the ladies and gentlemen who gavo their services at the concert on the 21st September last, by which the net sum of £l3los was realised; and also to Mr J, P, Cimpbell for his very interesting lecture on "Samoa, ;, in December, The proceeds of the concert enabled your committee to pay off Mr Dodd'a loan, thus leaving your institution entirely free from debt; in fact with a small balance of £3los 6d to credit, which they recommend being held over as a nucleus for the purchase of new bonks. The number of subscribers during the past year was 150, and subscriptions received £slos 6d. The committee feel much plensuro in handing over to their successors the institution entirely free from debt."
We are sure the subscribers will be pleased with the above report, and we heartily congratulate them upon the healthy state of their finance. We trust that the meeting on Wednesday will be well attended, and that some of the country subscribers will be present to take part in the deliberations,
