FISHING AT OKOROIRE.
Wk have had one or two paragraphs in lately referring to the successful introduction of trout into our Waiknto streams, more particularly in those in the vicinity of Okoroire and Oxford. There have been doubts raised from time t<a time as to whether the fish are breeding in those streams, or if the fish lately caught are only the fish that have been introduced by the Auckland Acclimatisation Society, A talk with MrF. W, Browning has settled the question, as he reports having observed fish of all sizes as abounding in the Waimakariri, the stream where he had so much Bacceßs. The following record will be perused with interest, giving a detailed, au count of each day's sport during the days he spent at Okoroire:—January U ■ (i fish, 191b; 16th: 2 fish, 61b; 17th: 4 fish, 71b; 18th: 4 fish, 741b! 19th: 4 fish, lOJIb; 20th: 8 fish, 141b, Total, 28 fish; weight, 641b; averaging say, 2|lb, All the Ash were of the one species, the Rainbow trout. Mr Browning returned to Hamilton on Saturday, and spoke in most enthusiastic terms' of the excellent sport he had had. The fish, he said, are keen feeders, strong in the water, and good tackle is of the first con- J sideration. He put up at Okoroire, and cannot say too much of the attention bestowed by Mr Sherley on his patrons,
