(lit TELEGRAPH.-PRKfIB ASSOCIATION'.] Trkntham, Last Night. Tub thirty-second annual meeting of the Hide Association opens to-morrow, The usual opening ceremony will be dispensed with, and the Nolson match, 200 and 700 yards, seven shots, not counting for the belt, will he proceeded with at 10 o'clock. The entries for this meeting are not so numerous as for the previous year, and are not expected to exceed 200. The majority nf the men aro already under canvas, and the remainder ivill nrrive early by train. So far, nothing Ims been heard of any Australian reps, but some inay be on board the Hauroto, duo at Wellington tomorrow from Sydney. Major Messenger is in command of the camp, andMnjorSomervilln is managing the meeting, while C.ipt. Collins has charge of tlw council tent. A meeting of the council is being held tonight. The principal business is the question of throwing open all matches to Australian competitors (should any arrive), with tho provision that the.Champion lielt cannot be won by visitors from tho sister colonies. A to reduce i the entry fee for tho matches will also be discussed. Lord and Lady Glasgow have expressed their intention of visiting the range tomorrow afternoon. A fierce nm'-westor is. blowing to-night, and rni-i has set in. Tht> riflemen who came down from Auckland by Takapuna were lauded at 1.30 a.m. at New Plymouth in pouring rain and had to travel ail day wet through. Some are suffering in consequence. Thoy were waiting without shelter tor several hours before a train arrived at tho breakwater. The Petone Rifle Club intend to enter the local members only in the Teams Match, and the threatened: difficulty is thus obviated.
