MERCANTILE BANK.

London, .lummy G. Millidgf, (late Manager of the Mercantile Bank of Australia), who has been arrested here, appeared before the Magistrate at Bow-street to-day. He explained that he was ill, the result of anxiety regarding these charges. The official receiver not objecting, the magistrate ordered that Millidje should be escorted on board the Himalaya, in which he sailed for Melbourne. Counsel for the accused complained that the issue of ut warrant for the arrest of his client was unconstitutional, as the directors had been asked to attend on summons. January 7. Millidgc. who is being sent back to Melbourne, was convoyed to the docks in a special train. He declares that he will prove that the balance-sheet issued in February was correct.
