(HY ELKOTHIC TELEGRAPH.— COPTKIOHT.) London, December 7. In the event of the failure of the Monetary Conference, it is expected that the Indian Currency Commission will propose a gold standard for India, or that the Eastern mints will suspend the purchase of silver. Brussels, December 7. At the Monetary Conference, Mr Wilson, of Fremantle, Western Australia, asseited that the British policy was one of mono-inetallism, pure and simple, and, therefore, he was unable to support either the chairman or Rothschild in their proposals. Owing to the opposition of the American Delegates, Rothschild has withdrawn his proposal respecting the annual purchase of silver. Sir W. H. Houldsivorth, one of the British representatives, has submitted a scheme for forming a bi-metallic union. Wasiiington\ December 8. The Coinage Committee of the House of Representatives have under discussion a Bill providing for the repeal of the Act authorising the monlhly purchase of silver and also a measure directing the Treasury to sell a hundred million ounces Of silver for gold.
