Isijuest AT Harapepe.—General regiet is expressed here at the awfully sudden death of Mrs Adelaide Hunter, wife of Mr Thomas Hunter, settler, of Pirongia. On Tuesday morning last Mr Hunter was employed in his garden, leaving his wife in the house attending to her domestic duties, in her usual state of health. On going to the house at about 12 o'clock noon Mr Hunter found his wife lying across the bed, quite dead. An inquest was held at deceased's residence on Wednesday, beforo the district coroner (Mr Thos. Gresham), a jury of six being empannelled by Constable Jones. Evidence was given that the deceased lady had suffered from heart disease for a considerable time past, and had been under medical treatment for it by Drs. Blunden and Pairman. The jury returned their verdict accordingly—death from natural causes. Hay-making.—Our farmers are fully appreciating the fine weather we have been having lately, as many were very dubious of saving any hay. Now all are busy taking advantage of the fine spell. The crops generally are looking well, and a good harvest is anticipated. Mortality Amongst the Maoris.— Another old Maori llangatira has parsed away in the person of Ahipene Kaihau, the father of the well-known Kerei Kaihau, of Waiukn. Ahipene was well-known at Government H'mso in the olden days as a friend of Governor Grey. Afterwards he married Tawhiao's sister. After the war lie resided for soma years with Tawhiao and his party at Te Kmti, Hangatiki and Whatiwliatihoe. Ahipene was a very tine typo of the old chief, and was chief of the Ngatitlat'i, He was well liked amongst i Kuropoaus, ami wuv of a most hospitable imposition. '
