It must be gratifying to our readers to note the satisfactory progress of the wool sales which are now taking place in Australia, and in this colony. From all appearances, good sound wools are fast regaining the drop in prices, which was characteristic of last season's operations. Cross-bred wool, in particular, is in very strong demand. At the Christchurch sales keen competition is taking placa, bright good conditioned half-bred selling at from7d to 0d and crossbred, the chief staple of Waikato, bring 7d toßid. Great interest is being felt .13 to what will be the rates at our approaching. Auckland auctions. Tlio opening sale taking place a few days hence, when in spite of the inclement weather, and backward shearing season, some large catalogues are expected-
